getting ready for christmas

hana_tammy
Worldwide financial crisis can’t halt the usual noche buena celebration which is the highlight of Christmas season, where families gathered to celebrate the birthday of the Almighty while merrily eating together the traditional foods such as ham, macaroni salad, buko (young coconut) or fruit salad, gelatine, leche plan, grilled chicken, chicken/pork casserole, spaghetti, pansit, fruits in season, lechon and lots of sweets and fats LOL !

This party was almost a preview of the coming christmas festivities, nanay’s (mom’s) birthday. It was attended by the closest relatives and friends.

Hana Isabel, my niece, and her favorite pet, Tammy are also excited for the coming holiday season especially the midnight mass which is going to begin on the dawn of 16 December.

I will try to keep posting days before Christmas!

Happy Holidays everyone!

this is one of the collections of free underwater dive spots photography in the Philippines. Enjoy it!

The free underwater photography was generously provided by Canadian scuba diver Ken Dawson. He and his diving buddies (Filipinos & foreigners alike) with their diving camera, frequent different dive spots in the Philippines several times a year to enjoy the beautiful Philippine underwater landscape and the rich marine life in the Philippines.

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Now my question for you to answer is…..

Where do you spend your Sunday?

My answer,

almost every sunday, at home… with my family

the church and the dragon ball z..

Hi! I’m Back again..

Yesterday was different, instead of celebrating the Sunday mass in Imus Cathedral, my family instead did it in famous Binondo Church. This is not our first time here, because every Lenten season or Holy Week, this church is one of the 7 churches we visit to complete our “Visita Iglesia.”.

I remember, In late 80’s, I had wished for my first born to be a boy in one of Baguio churches, and it did come true. Now my eldest is 21 and God loves me so much that He gave me another boy, my younger one. I have not remember wishing for a girl, maybe because, I believe that it is easier for a parent to raise a gentleman than to raise a lady. (Maybe because I have noticed that my nanay spent more energy in raising her 2 girls, (me and my sister. LOL :-) )

Now that I am 52,and my husband is 53, and quite nearing our twilight years, still I do not regret of not having a daughter. My two boys know how to take care of the house and have a considerable cooking knowledge, so I am confident that even if I’m gone, they can take care of themselves. And most of all, we have equipped them with the best education we can afford. They were like, 3 and a half years old , when they started attending their formal training/education in nursery, kinder and prep years, and currently nearing their final years in their tertiary education in Lyceum of the Philippines University.

Anyway, above image is from the inside of the Binondo Church and below………… of my 2nd son, (Dragon Ball Z Character) taken during the creative photo session of the 2009 Mass Comm graduating class!

Nice evening everyone!

Cebu Pacific is proud to have the position as the airline with the newest planes in the country and even one of the newest in Asia.

Lance Gokongwei, CEB president and Chief Executive Officer explains ” We have always been committed to serving Filipinos. Our vision is to make it possible for everyone to fly by offfering the lowest fares to wherever Cebu pacific Air operates.”

Every aircraft in their fleet is kitted out in soft sylish and sumptous leather furnishings in their signature blue and green colors, and with Cebu Pacific logo embossed on the headrest. The plane has the most modern designs and the most comfortable cabins.

To enjoy your trip more here are the top tips on preparing for your flight

Eat lightly before getting on board or you’ll feel uncomfortable in mid-air.

Do not bring food into other countries if you are flying out of the Philippines

Do make sure you look smart and presentable. No pyjamas

Make sure your medicines (if you are carrying one) are in their original packaging especially pills to avoid being questions.

Turn off your mobile phone otherwise airwaves will interfere with the plane’s electronic signals. Nobody wants air crash.

When feeling pressure in your ears, yawn.

In flight exercises:

Stretch

Circle your ankles in clockwise motion at least 7 times then again 7 times …..anti-clockwise

Gently roll your neck and open your mouth when you put your head back.

Stand up as often as possible to keep blood circulation going.

Red ribbon and other travel tips part 2

suitcase kodak

( This is a follow up post to Golden Dragon Bus and the Red ribbon)

My husband arrived Manila last night from Xiamen with the rest of the Golden Dragon Bus Group, so I am not free again to write. When he’s around, I barely touch the desktop at home. If am not making his coffee, I am cooking for the family.

As I expected, the red ribbon is still tied on the handle of the suitcase. I will keep it this way, so the next time he flies, its there already.

Other travel tips from me are the following :

Travel light if possible. When I travel, be it long haul or short distance (like Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai or Macau, I bring 2 maong jeans and one formal pant suit only. Then I count the number of days I will stay in a particular place. 4 days means 4 blouses plus 2 extra. and one night suit only. Towel is usually provided in a hotel.

In long haul flight, I have a complete extra blouse, pants, underwear ( good for one day) in my hand carry bag. This is for emergency purposes such as, baggage delay and lost of my check in baggage. (Thank God… I have not missed my luggage so far)

I always have a copy of my passport with my handbag and my checked in baggage. Again for emergency purposes. In case of lost passport, anywhere in the world with Philippine Embassy, you can be re-issued this government document in a matter of one to 3 days, if you can present a copy of your passport with your photo and the personal details.

I always wear a jacket or suit with lots of pocket (inside and out) for the passport, ticket, credit cards, wallet, cold cash and other travel documents. You may lose everything but passport. This is your only document to enter and exit any country (visa is also stamped on one of its pages) Jacket and Suit are smart and chic, Sometimes immigration officer tend to ask so many questions when someone looks like a moron. (Sorry for my language) So it is very important to look your best and to behave properly when traveling overseas.
